The ADHD Catholic Collective is where SUPPORT for ADHD meets a COMMUNITY fostering radical acceptance.

radical*acceptance – practicing a conscious effort to acknowledge and honor difficult situations and emotions.

This is important as you work to understand yourself better and open yourself up to surrender to the Holy Spirit.

In a community, that looks a lot like approaching others with curiosity instead of judgement. Empathizing instead of criticizing. And recognizing that each person on the other side of the chat box is a human on their own journey that needs your support and understanding.

You may find that you have had to mask your true self in order to be accepted, fit in, and be successful within the systems that exist in culture – whether secular or Catholic. The Collective houses tools and structure in order to rediscover who you truly are with no mask on and the community that accepts that unmasked version of yourself.

The Collective is rooted in Ignatian Spirituality and draws heavily upon the tools that Julia Cameron teaches in her book, “The Artist’s Way”.

Neurotypical advice doesn’t work for us. And I have tried EVERYTHING. Planners, writing notes, having “a place” for things, setting alarms… Even advice that ‘works’ for ADHD people may not work for YOU. One of my favorite sayings is,

“If you’ve met one person with ADHD, you’ve met ONE person with ADHD”.

Your journey is as unique as you are, but none of us were meant to journey alone!

The reason I always come back to Ignatian Spirituality and “The Artist’s Way” is 3-fold:

  1. They are both highly creative in nature. My brain is free to wander without getting lost.
  2. They both are rooted in self-examination with a focus on growth and freedom.
  3. They are both frameworks, scaffolding to hold you up while you reconstruct. Not a set of rigid rules that cannot be broken in order for them to work.

Chaos is somewhat inevitable, so we focus on ways to gain clarity AMIDST the chaos. Not try to get rid of the chaos altogether.
